Governor Wolf and Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards Hold Roundtable to Discuss Devastating Effects of Proposed Federal Funding Cuts

Warminster Health Centers, Planned Parenthood, 610 Louis Drive, Warminster, PA

Governor Wolf will join President of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards and women’s healthcare advocates for a roundtable discussion on the future and importance of Planned Parenthood funding and women’s health care access in Pennsylvania.

Earlier this week, a women’s health care rally was held in Harrisburg where advocates gathered against the proposed federal cuts to Title X. Governor Wolf released a statement in support of those who attended the rally and on the importance of continuing access to women’s health care services across the Commonwealth.

“The attacks on women’s reproductive health care and organizations like Planned Parenthood put women, especially in rural and underserved communities, at risk of having extremely limited access to essential health services,” said Governor Wolf. “I will veto any measure that seeks to prevent women from accessing health care services or providers that they or their doctor deem appropriate for their own health.”

Governor Wolf Announces “It’s On Us” PA Legislation

Governor's Reception Room, Main Capitol Building, Harrisburg, PA

Governor Wolf will be joined by members of his administration and lawmakers to announce a proposed package of legislation that will expand the scope of “It’s On Us PA” to continue working towards ending sexual assault in Pennsylvania.

In January 2016, the “It’s On Us PA” campaign was launched by Governor Wolf to encourage all Pennsylvanians to be a part of the solution to protect students from sexual violence. Since the campaign’s creation, nearly 2,000 individuals from over 200 schools in Pennsylvania have taken the “It’s On Us PA” pledge. Governor Wolf and his Administration secured $1 million in funding through the 2016-2017 budget to support evidence-based sexual assault prevention, reporting, and response systems on college campuses and hosted roundtable discussions with students, educators, advocates, and policymakers across the Commonwealth to share perspectives and ideas on how to end sexual violence.

Last April, Governor Wolf joined Vice President Joe Biden at the University of Pittsburgh to launch the “It’s On Us” National Spring Week of Action. Pennsylvania was selected as the launch site for the week of action as recognition of being the first state in the country to initiate its own “It’s On Us” campaign.
